How to Start Microsoft Word from an existing file

After your Word document is created, don't forget to save it so you can use it again someday.
When you create a new and unsaved Word document, the Microsoft Word title bar will show the Document name followed by the serial number of the new document you are currently creating.
For example, if this is the first new document you have created, the name that appears is Document1 - Word, and so on.
To save a Word document, follow these steps

How to Save a Previously Saved Word Document

To save a previously saved Microsoft Word document, you can simply use the
Ctrl+S
shortcut on the keyboard. This is the fastest and most effective way.
But if you want to save the currently open document to another document, you need to save it with the Save As option.
  • Click File then select Save As or simply press the
    F12
    key on the keyboard
  • Then navigate to the folder location you want
  • Set the file name to File Name then click Save
  • If they are stored in the same folder, make sure to create a different filename
  • Click Save
Now you have 2 Word documents. The first Word document remains the original, and the first document you edit is saved as the second document.

How to Save Microsoft Word in Other Formats
